The Cloud County Conservation District will be having a sign-up for cost-share funds for the construction of conservation practices and Non-Point Source Pollution (NPS) practices. the sign-up period will be from April 1st through April 30th at the District Office located in the USDA Service Center 1501 E. 7th St., Concordia. Applications accepted during this time period will get first chance at the funding. A list of some of the practices to be cost-share on include: critical area planting; diversion, pasture & hayland planting; ponds, range seeding, terraces, new waterways and waterway restoration. The NPS practices available for cost-share assistance are: up-grading on-site waste system; abandoned well plugging; soil testing and livestock waste system. All practices must be approved by the State Conservation Commission before construction can begin. Cost-share funds will not become available until July 1st. The landowners or their legal agent will need to come in and sign the application for cost-share. A contract will need to be signed once your application has been approved. If you are interested in receiving cost-share assistance, stop in at the conservation office located at 1501 E. 7th St., Concordia or call 785-243-1509. All applications will be ranked and approved by the board. .
