| RECYCLING IN CLOUD COUNTY |
| The Cloud County Conservation District is not just concerned with soil conservation, but also the conservation of all natural resources. It wants to encourage everyone to recycle because it not only helps to conserve natural resources, but also to improve the environment. At the present time, there are several opportunities for recycling in Cloud County. The Cloud County Transfer Station accepts all kinds of metal, batteries, used oil, tires, aluminum cans, and cardboard boxes as well as leaves and grass clippings. The transfer station will soon have a market for all kinds of plastic. It is open from 8am to 4pm Monday thru Friday, 8am to 8pm on Wednesday, and 8am to 4pm on Saturday. Cloud County Recyling Center, 304 Cedar Street, Concordia takes all corrugated cardboard, newspapers, office paper, shredded paper, magazines, hardback and paperback books, clean textiles/clothes, rinsed plastic containers, glass, steel cans, aluminum cans, shoes and bicycles. There hours are Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and on Saturday 8:00am to noon. There telephone number is 785-243-3504. The City of Glasco accepts glass, junk mail, magazines, catalogs, aluminum and tin cans, plastic, and flattened corrugated cardboard. These items may be dropped off at 110 W. Main, Glasco, from 9am to 3pm on Saturday. The Clyde Area Recycling takes newspaper, cardboard, clothing and shoes, aluminum cans, whole or shredded white office paper, and books. Its hours are from 9am to 11am on Saturday at the brick city garage on E. Highway 9 in Clyde. Rex Istas of Brown Disposal, Concordia, accepts flattened corrugated cardboard and shredded office paper which may be taken to 630 W. 3rd. St. At the present time, he is buying aluminum cans by appointment. To set up a delivery time, call him at 243-7577 in the evenings. He will soon be able to take pop cans on a regular basis. |
